ALUCOIL: inclusive, sustainable and safe industrialization

ALUCOIL is a Spanish multinational, based in Miranda de Ebro (Burgos), specialized in the manufacture of very technologically advanced materials for the building, transport and industrial sectors.

“The Grenfell Tower fire in 2017 represented a paradigm shift in the way we approach innovation as we knew it until then,” indicates its General Manager, Belén Martín.

ALUCOIL and TECNALIA began a collaboration that aimed to study a new facade cladding system using aluminum honeycomb panels. The main challenge ahead of them was to build a laboratory in record time for the study and spread of fire on a large scale.
A pioneering facility in Spain, capable of providing the answers they were looking for to develop new products for construction and new construction.

ALUCOIL needed to create new solutions so that homes were more sustainable and integrated into a new, more inclusive urban model, so that people could live in a safer way.

This paradigm shift brought with it a new opportunity to train new professionals in fire matters, investigate new solutions and respond to the most demanding regulations for the export of new products to the Anglo-Saxon market, and to the rest of the world.
