On March 5, 2026, the launch meeting of the project took place in A Coruña. Project COMMAND, The Cervera state research excellence network, focused on developing technologies for coordinating autonomous vehicles by air, land, and sea, has begun its work. The initiative, which received the highest technical score from the CDTI (92,5 out of 100), aims to advance systems capable of operating autonomously and cooperatively in complex environments.
The COMANDO project in which he participates CIDAUT (Castilla y León) together with the Technology Centres CTAG (Galicia), IBV e ITENE (Valencian Community), TECNALIA (Basque Country), and which is being led by ITG (Galicia), will work together on developing solutions for the coordination of autonomous vehicle fleets.
The initiative will also include a Defense and Security Advisory Council, composed of representatives from the Armed Forces, the Directorate General of Armament and Material (DGAM), and companies in the sector. This body will help guide developments to facilitate their practical application in both defense and civilian uses.

The project focuses on developing multimodal autonomous mobility systems capable of coordinating aerial (UAV), ground (UGV), and maritime (USV) vehicles. The goal is to increase the maturity of these technologies so they can move and operate in a coordinated manner even in demanding, hostile, or communications-limited environments, in both civilian and defense/security contexts.
In this context, the Cervera Network of Excellence - led by ITG and comprised of CIDAUT, CTAG, IBV, ITENE y TECNALIA– It seeks to strengthen national technological sovereignty by developing critical capabilities in autonomous systems. Among its goals is the validation of at least 20 technological subsystems in demanding environments with high levels of technological maturity, a key step for their future operational application.
CIDAUT participates in all project activities and leads Activity 3: Autonomy and Embedded Cyber Resilience, which has just begun and will extend until the end of the project, with the aim of investigating solutions that allow autonomous platforms to act independently, with the ability to react autonomously to unforeseen events and resist attempts at degradation or cyberattack.
Project CER-20251029 recognized as a CERVERA Network of Excellence, funded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, through the Centre for Technological Development and Innovation EPE (CDTI).
